What is the story behind the SAMAVAI garments?
All garments are one-of-a-kind and made from vintage saris that have been loved and worn over the years. The garments are cut and sewn in Tamil Nadu, India and California, USA. Any signs of wear and distress are unique to the fabric and its history. Please treat your garment delicately as the fibers are up to 40 years old.
What materials are SAMAVAI garments made of?
We try to make all garments out of natural fibers when possible. Most shirts are made of silk, cotton, or organza, and few are made of polyester.
How do I care for my garment?
We recommend Dry Cleaning and Spot Cleaning for all of our garments. You may also hand wash in cold water and lay flat or hang to dry. Please do not put your garments in a washing machine or dryer. The fibers are delicate after years of wear so please treat your shirt with tender love and care.
What sizes do the garments come in?
We are currently producing XS-2XL. Please see the size measurements listed on the individual garments’ pages.
