The Vedavalli Shirt is SAMAVAI's signature item, named after Shriya's maternal grandmother Vedavalli who has a vast collection of silk saris. The silhouette is inspired by Shriya's maternal grandfather Parthasarathy and the open-collar button down shirts he would wear along with a traditional South Indian veshti.
This one-of-a-kind shirt is made from a vintage sari, previously owned by Bilquis Aunty, a hairdresser in LA who passed in 2020. Proceeds from this shirt are donated to a hair styling school and salon in Bangladesh.
Cut and sewn in Los Angeles, CA.
